Hi all,
I want to know what each and everyone of you ride, and why you ride that specific scooter. I myself, it is rather obvious that I ride a Fatboy. She is a 2008 105th Anniversary edition, and I am still getting used to her as I road a Sporty, and a Dyna Superglide for many moons. I picked her up late last year, as I could not pass up the deal on got on such a gorgeous bike. Besides, who could not pass up owning a little piece of Harley's 105th, as well as HOG's 25th!! So why do I ride a Fatboy. Well I wanted a little bigger bike than what I had, I love the 6 speed, and the sound that comes out of that bike is music to my ears.
I only was able to put 1400 miles on her before our Wisconsin Winter dragged me to a screeching halt, so all I could do over the nasty winter was go out to the garage, take off her cover, put on my Favorite AC/DC CD and start up Molly (that is the name of my scooter, named after "The Unsinkable Molly Brown") and listen to the music pouring out of that engine.
I rode her yesterday for the 1st time this season, and froze my ass off for a short time, as Molly needed some work done at the shop (Bala's HD my Favorite Place to Shop) and I really did not care how cold it was, it was great hopping on the Interstate and making the short run. I thought about heading further, but I knew that the salt and sand had not been washed away as of yet, so I made it to the shop and left my scooter behind for a few days.
So now I look forward to many rides on my new scooter and cannot wait for the warmer days ahead!!
Now it's your turn, what do you ride, and why?
I ride a 2003 100th Anniversary Sportster.. XL1200C to be precise about it. It was HD "Custom" out of the door, but now it's truly custom as I have added (99% done by myself) just about every little thing I could think of, and the big ones too. Not to mention the custom paint courtesy of Paragon Customs who I highly recommend for anything from accent's to full blown paint.
ReplyDeleteTo me there is a bond with this bike that I would have never imagined possible. Do we talk? Yeah. It's like that.
She's totally outfitted for whatever I want to do, and has three different seats for whatever riding situation I decide to embark on; with my wife for a long stretch or for some quick Cannon Run jaunts, on my own with some gear, or stripped down for the solo rides to work and back.
She has a look, a feel and sound that are distinctly "me".
I've never given her a name so to speak; I refer to her affectionately as "Number One". People can diss Sportsters all they want, but I can tell you... I had a Classic too and when the economy went and something needed to give... well... Number One is still here.
I do have plans for another bike when it and the right deal come along, but when that time comes, Number One won't be going anywhere and she won't be sitting in the garage wishing I'd ride her either.
And, unlike Tim and Molly, when Number One and I want to listen to our favorite AC/DC CD, we can plug in the I-Pod and do it on the road while Naggie Maggie our GPS leads us to wherever!
It doesn't take long to understand exactly what "If I have To Explain, You Wouldn't Understand" means.
Who's next?
